Mary Magdalene's story is so inspiring. A soul being so far in sin that is converted by the love of Christ. Christ came to save her and all of us.
It is ironic that two of the women very close to Christ during His earthly life share the same name but come from opposite sides of the salvation spectrum -so to speak. Both His mother, Mary, and Mary Magdalene were saved due to the sacrifice Jesus made of Himself on the cross. God granted Mary, His mother, the grace of never sinning. Mary Magdalene knew about sin all too well. She is an example to everyone. She is the patron of all of us because, lets face it, we have all sinned. Jesus forgave her and forgives all of us. We just need to accept it.
She is about 3 9/16 inches tall. I have painted Mary Magdalene's face with a tear on her cheek as a sign of her regret and repentance. In art she is often depicted with a skull, a perfume bottle (referring to the passage in the Bible when she anoints Christ's feet) and a red egg. She is holding a red egg and a perfume bottle is at her feet. If you wish a skull painted somewhere as well just convo me about it. It is said that she contemplated on a skull to remember her own mortality and as a reminder that time on earth is limited. She will be painted with her name and PRAY FOR US on the back.
The red egg has a few stories surrounding it. One is that, while evangelizing to the emperor of Rome, she greeted him with the words "Christ is risen". Pointing to an egg on a table he said, "He is no more risen than that egg." Immediately the egg turned blood red.
